Thanksgiving behind us and the Christmas season beginning Oh Joy!

 I am so thankful that Thanksgiving is over and now I can officially enjoy the Christmas spirit without feeling too guilty.

 When you decorate in November you start to feel like a race horse that took off before the race began. I am not a crazy shopper or anything crazy like that. I just love having Christmas lights on all over my home it feels so nice and serene. Morris laying next to my little Christmas trees all lit up with my primitive decorations is such a sweet picture. I think Maulie needs a new dog bed for Christmas this year!
 Most of my decorations are handmade by friends, so such happy memories flood back as I decorate my little old yellow house for the holidays.

 I found an old door last weekend and had hubby make a stand and I painted it milk paint barn red. It's missing some windows but I think it adds some character.
I love Pinterest, I saw what they were doing with old doors so I thought I would paint my old useless door a nice old barn red and be able to re purpose it somehow as a screen blind for my front room.
I will  share a picture when I have it all set up.
I accidentally started decorating early this year before Thanksgiving. I started bringing out one plastic bin and then another then next thing I know I had decorated the house for Christmas. I am now trying feverishly to get my hooking projects that are Christmas related done. Last year was a snowman and this year my hooking project is a Christmas cat .

I have been working away on a Lori pattern of a Christmas kitty. It is such a cute pattern and better yet it was free. I shared it with some other hookers and I am curious if any one else in Donna's Rugger's group will have their Christmas kitty done.

Tomorrow I am going with my family to Disneyland for my daughters birthday. It should be a wonderful day.  Disneyland will be decorated for the holidays which will be nice to see. My daughter Megan loves Disneyland and that is her favorite place to go for her birthday. I have my comfy shoes all ready! Talk about a marathon of walking on Sunday!

Happy Anniversary in San Diego

Saturday was a happy day it was my hubby and my Wedding Anniversary.
Jack and I have been married thirty nine years.We met when I was fourteen sitting in high school English class.He asked me out I said No and four years later I asked him out lucky me he said yes.We grew up three blocks from each other but never ran into each other as kids. Counting the years we dated it's forty two years.
Wow that's a long time now a days. It feels like the years sure flew by and remembering the day we were both a little sad some of our loved ones aren't around anymore.We were so young back then and I am happy to say I love him much more then I did when I got married which is hard to believe.For some reason I thought he knew everything back then. Hummm.
 So low key person that I am I wanted to go to the swap meet at Sports arena out to Point Loma for clams and just go around being a tourist for the day.
It was perfect idea and such a relaxing nice day for both us.
 I loved taking pictures of what there is to see in this tourist town called San Diego.
So enjoy our mild November weather I sure am after the long hot summer we had.
Tuesday is my rug hooking day
so hopefully I will have lots to show of what the gals have been doing.Hugs Cheri

 Ocean when I was a teenager. I remember zig zagging 

out the channel and the sails flapping in the wind as

we came about.

See the large sailboat you"ll see it again when we go to our next spot.

At the end of World War Two a sailor grabbed a nurse gave her a

big kiss and it was a very famous picture.

San Diego had this huge statue made next to the Midway Museum.

I have wanted to see it for a while so finally I saw it.

I have no idea who any of these people are but so

many people looked up her skirt or tried to do the pose

and it is quite popular. No I didn't do the pose I am shy.

Super Hero Juice

Last week I sat with a sick little grandchild on my lap at the worst time of year to get sick for a kid Halloween. I was working away on my chicken rug and on a roll and so content.
 I visualized in my head each day getting one side of the four sides back ground done and accomplishing something until my little grandson got the stomach flu.

So in order to get fluids in him which is pedialyte my son in law calls it Super Hero Juice

 The little guy took small sips of Super Hero Juice and would lay there asking for more of his Super  Hero Juice he was so thirsty but we had to limit it because his stomach couldn't take anything.We could only double the amount of fluid every fifteen minutes.
I kept calling it super human juice for some reason maybe I was just tired .Boy it's a bad bug and seems very easy to get.The little guy just lay on my lap for two days.
So Little Jack recovered from the flu and guess who caught it yours truly .I felt bad for hubby I came home and just laid there like a limp noodle for three days.I hurt so much my eye balls even ached.Then back to Megan's last week I came home and now Hubby caught it this Saturday and Megan caught it too! Jack and little Jack got the worst of it. Today hubby is on the mend but still in bed.I got invited to Janet's for rug hooking on Monday night but I am feeling fine but some what like Typhoid Mary and staying home. Lol!

Since I don't have any pictures for you to drool at I was just wondering about a silly question  I thought of while I was in the middle of my flu about rug hookers that wear aprons.  I know it must have been the fever!

 A couple years ago some gals from our group went back East and took some hooking classes.While there they noticed all the hookers were wearing aprons.So I wondered besides keeping wool off the ground does rug hooking with an apron make you take your craft more seriously? Maybe there is a simple mind shift that happens as you put your apron on.One of new ladies in our group also wears  an apron and I feel like I want what the cool kids have. As I have watched her put on her apron each week I find myself thinking Wow she looks so official.Remember when you were a kid and wore your camp fire girl uniform or how wearing a uniform of  any kind always makes you become what your wearing.
Now be truthful before I invest in an apron and end my apron envy.  Do you think you do a better job at your rug hooking! If you wear an apron do you have a favorite type?
