Primitive Rughooking to Primitive Quilts

What can I say Life is a blur of busy weeks.It seems like every week zooms by! The last few weeks I have been busy finishing sock knitting. I know I have to finish Hubby's sock soon. I think I am a little bit of a nut who makes knitted wool socks for a July birthday?
I went to Little Jacks second year Birthday party.It was such a nice time.Little Jack had two birthdays one at Disneyland and one with family.

I finally took my Primitive Quilt to have it quilted and was nudged to enter it in the San Diego Quilt Show.I am nervous but this year Pam who is the President of the San Diego Quilt show wants a good primitive quilt turn out. Since Cheri Payne is teaching at the quilt show what better then to display some of her quilts we have made.

             Don't look too closely it's still a work in progress,
      I still have lots to do first I have to add a huge button on the house.
      Add cat eyes. Clean up the threads and bind in old red fabric.

I have until September to bind my Sew Primitive quilt.On my quilt there are buttons I still need to put on so Janet let me borrow her button jar.

My tooth has been bothering so trips to the dentist.It seems I lost two weeks just in teeth pain it kept coming and going. I swear there is nothing worse then a tooth ache. I am slowly getting my hooked rug done. So here are some quick pictures of what the ladies has been up to

Antique quilt, Rug hooking and a squirrel

It's great when you have the history
of an old quilt.

Sometimes Life is just a simple sigh of Contentment.
This morning I sat outside as Maulie watched at her favorite spot at the fence for unsuspecting walkers with their canine friends. She always makes me laugh because she just loves to dog watch. Those unexpected barks at dogs in her morning makes her day. They walk by her totally unaware she is in corner watching their unsuspecting movements ready for her bark of her day.Maulie is one nutty little Shitzu!
Our dirt road is a perfect spot to watch Life goes by whether its dogs, people or horses it’s a sigh of contentment to me. Maybe as we get older we enjoy the little things a lot more.I can keep myself occupied all day with my projects. I can’t believe how much a new rerun of a series on T.V.(Ballykissangel) or a new author I discover makes my day.I feel like my summer days are so precious to me for some reason. I hope I am not the only person who feels like she’s a kid when it comes to simple ordinary things.

It’s finally a little cooler in San Diego County and so I was busy weeding and looked across and saw a big rabbit bounce by the park in front of me. This unexpected jolt of of nature bouncing in front of me is a sweet reminder of what I can’t control in my garden Bunny tails going away from me is fine with me no threat to my garden today.

One thing a novice gardener can grow is Morning Glories

I feel like an inward sigh when I hear the birds and can see everyone in my little world going about their business. Birds chirping Morris yawning and hummingbirds darting about. I have a hummingbird feeder out in the front yard but no hummingbirds yet. For a couple of days there was a really pretty sounding bird that I had no idea where it was but wow a voice! I wonder if there is a spot on the Internet to identify bird calls?
Last week I stopped at a feed store to check out their chickens. They looked O.K. but I didn’t like that the young girl didn’t know what all the breeds they had. So I am going to check out next week another feed store for chicks.
My rug is coming along but I have had to dye some more wool to get my off white wool's darker.Well I gotta go lots to do during these lazy days of summer.Oh one last thing I was happily surprised this week I have another follower.
I am up to 90 Wow! Hugs to all Cheri

Egg and I Road primitive rug ,Visions Quilt Museum

This week I have been enjoying hooking my new Egg and I Road primitive rug. I really enjoy hooking this rug on linen it's easier to hook with and easier on my hand. I spent late last night way past twelve hooking away. There is nothing better then laying in bed as your head hits the pillow thinking what color wool are you going to use next on your rug! Instead of what problems of the day you encountered your mind is swirling with enthusiasm for what your making on your piece of linen. I am so happy and content when I creating something I am never bored.I was wishing I could just skip sleeping because I was in the hooking zone. I decided that I am going to use black on the letters but my black wool needs to be muted. I tried to use the Tide way of draining some of the color out of the black wool but it didn't work.I guess I will have to dye a pot of wool.

When I am done I will have a permanent reminder of
Washington State and Bainbridge Island
and going down the Egg and I Road
with my daughter.

I need to move the little tree over a little I think

On Wednesday I went with my friend to Visions Quilt museum a contemporary Quilt museum in Point Loma . I like traditional quilts the best but even if it’s not your cup of tea you do get ideas of what’s out there

in the contemporary world of quilting. I couldn’t take pictures of the quilts inside the exhibit. Darn!
That was disappointing . The quilts were wild using all mediums on fabric.They were story quilts and very interesting but there was no way you would see these quilts laying on someones bed. Some reminded me of altered art on fabric anything goes.The Visions quilt museum is situated in a redone military base and now it’s filled with shops, churches, restaurants,markets and fitness centers. We saw military men jogging by too. It is such a smart and unique way of making and old base part of Point Loma's community by updating it to fit in with today's needs.
