A Hooking for Christmas and a trip to Disneyland

Sometimes life takes away our normal schedule and sadly knitting classes and hooker groups get put on hold. I was caught in a constant to do list of things doing what was pretty routine and non eventful to anybody but me.Thanksgiving came and went it was nice and relaxing at Megan's. I have been going back and forth to visit my daughter and then she has been visiting our home. For some reason it is hard to rug hook with a toddler around. Maybe it's me but when little kids are around you have to watch them like a hawk or a Nana.

We took a trip to Disneyland for my daughter's birthday last week and then she stayed for a couple of  days
 Finally last night I was able to continue a rug hooking for Christmas.I loved this pattern. I saw it in Primitive Quilt magazine and I am having such a fun time hooking away.
It has been cold lately in Crest so I have been busy  keeping a fire going all day. It's perfect hooking weather.After being at Disneyland I am finally getting in the mood for Christmas. Now that Megan and little Jack are back home in Sun city I can start decorating and get with the program.Hooking a Christmas theme does get you in a holiday mood pretty quick.                                                              What a nice old quilt

I am sitting here looking out the window as the clouds and fog rolls in thinking when is the rain going to arrive?  In Southern California any time we get a little bit of rain it's like a big event. I have spent hours bringing in firewood.I hate being cold so I worked like crazy and now I am one hot person.
I feel like I had a very fruitful day cleaning up the yard and planting some more lavender.I filled and emptied four more trash cans full of branches and yard waste.
Here are some pictures of this and that.

that was a gift to one of the ladies at the Country Loft and two quilts that had just been quilted by one of ladies in our group.
Little Jack enjoyed Bates nut farm and we enjoyed his excitement as he played with the pumpkins.

Hooked Bear Cabin Rug

What can I say I know this hooked rug took for ever! I just had too many projects going on at once that I finally got around to this labor of love. I had finished my Bear cabin rug and gave it to my cousin Marlene yesterday. She loved it! It made me smile.Marlene and Ron have had a lot of changes in their life in the last couple year with my elderly Aunt Sophie who came to live with them. Any person that is a caretaker of an elderly parent will understand life is not as simple as it used to be.I think Marlene and her husband are great caregivers and my aunt is lucky to have such a good daughter I wish I could be so good.
 Ron is a avid fisherman and he loved the fishes in the border.Everything means something to me !801 was the year Thomas Jefferson was elected President.The cabin goes with a little cabin my husband made for her a while ago.Who doesn't love a blue pumpkin?

I never realized how hard it would be to give it up.How do my fellow hookers sale their rugs it was so hard to let go of this one but it went to a very appreciative cousin.
So after that we dashed off to lunch and some shopping it was a real fun day.I loved spending time with my aunt and cousin it was nice family day! Such a good day. I will get caught up again with everyone's blogs this weekend.Hugs Cheri

Did I tell you we had a raccoon break a water pipe under my house?What a pain I also sprained my ankle for a couple weeks and little Jack and his mommy visited for a week. Oh yes my husband was cutting down a tree and the branch fell across the road and broke the fence. See I have been busy.
 Oh I just have to say there is a cute rug pattern in Primitive quilt project I have to hook this Christmas season!

Fall Magic is in the Air at Dee's

Fall magic is in the air as I visit  my woodworker friend Dee and saw what magic she's been up to. Walking in her fall garden and seeing all the surprises at every step is like a trip to a faraway land. The magic of Dee is her enthusiasm that is always contagious.From giving me cutting of succulents to add to my garden to showing me a tree house she made for Moses her great grandson. I loved Dee's  idea of an instant water feature. You just add a hose and glue the hose to a piece of a bark and let it drip.It gives a quick bubbling water sound to your garden and then when your done you turn it off. Instant gratification without a costly pump.

Creative people see what others don't they change a color in a hooking they explore a different avenue and never think of following the rules all the time.So many time we are hardest on ourselves as we try different projects. I watched an interesting show last night on PBS about Craft in America and I was amazed to see how many artist think outside the box and see what the rest of us don't see in front of us.What makes us young in life is a brain full of ideas and not time enough to do it in. May I never get bored with my projects and never see life as routine.
Yes there is the magic of fall in the air but it's more then magic it's a feeling of possibilities for that next project to get my mind wrapped around. Unfortunately there is always the next life lesson that await us.Until then I will try just a little harder to get just a little better in whatever endeavor I am doing and stay young with Life's possibilities.
